Chip choice

Who here loves tortilla chips and salsa? I sure do! And who can blame me? The stuff is downright addicting! But even though I try to convince myself sometimes when I'm sitting on the sofa eating tons of the stuff that it's okay because I'm getting some servings of veggies in my diet, I'm just thinking "who are you trying to fool?"

But tortilla chip lovers can give their consciences a little bit of a break for now--with these recent findings about a healthier choice.

"Researchers from the home of the tortilla, Mexico, found blue corn tortillas contain 20% more protein than their white corn counterparts. They also have less starch and a lower glycemic index (GI), which may be good news for dieters and people with diabetes."

Another reason to like the color blue? I'll take it! And if I know I'm going to keep indulging in the delectable combo anyways then I might as well try to be as minimally unhealthy while doing it. Heck, this way my kitchen table can even get a little more color on it (It's been looking kind of dull lately).

Well until next time, hope you get to take a dip yourself.
